When to Send Wedding Invitations: A Timeline for Invitations and RSVPs

Invitations sent too early are forgotten; invitations sent too late leave guests little time to plan and squeeze RSVPs into the last days. Here is the timing commonly used for Turkish weddings.

How many weeks before?

Wedding invitations are usually sent 3–4 weeks before the wedding, or 4–6 weeks during busy seasons and holidays. Guests from other cities are told the date 6–8 weeks in advance and relatives abroad two to three months ahead, while the formal invitation follows with everyone else's.

Henna night, engagement and söz

Henna night invitations usually go out with the wedding invitation or 2–3 weeks before; engagement invitations 2–3 weeks before; a small söz ceremony often needs only 1–2 weeks' notice.

RSVP deadline and reminders
